The Word on the Street

FORRESTER evaluated nine leading enterprise content management (ECM) vendors and four best-of-breed ECM component vendors across 45 criteria and found that vendor offerings are as diverse as the transactional-, business-, and persuasive content-centric needs they support. FileNet, IBM, and Hyland Software lead in transactional-content-centric apps. FileNet offers a strong foundation for transactional content differentiated by its excellent business process management (BPM). IBM follows close behind, and thanks to its transactional content focus, Hyland Software leads.

Hyland combines excellent high-volume document imaging and COLD in its OnBase product with a very aggressive focus on the transactional content needs of financial services, insurance, healthcare, public sector, and education. Hyland’s aggressive focus on transactional content apps and its relentless focus on exceptional customer satisfaction, driven from the top by Hyland’s CEO AJ Hyland, separate this vendor from others, including those with stronger ECM footprints such as EMC.

GARTNER’s Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management states Hyland has established itself as a strong contender in the mid-market ECM segment, addressing both departmental and enterprise needs. It continues to grow at a rate that has consistently outpaced the market, thanks to its channel partners and a focus on vertical solutions. Hyland significantly enhanced its Challenger ranking in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management.

IDC’s Worldwide Content Management Software Vendor Shares report illustrates that Hyland’s software revenue grew 30.2 percent year-over-year in 2005. Hyland’s growth rate surpassed the overall content management market growth rate of 9.6% and was the highest growth rate of the top 15 content management software vendors.

KLAS ENTERPRISES named Hyland to The Top 20: 2006 KLAS Mid-Year Report Card. The “Top 20” ranking is reserved for all products that fall into the 14 most rated market segments. OnBase received a number two ranking for the Acute Care Document Management and Imaging category.
