Kofax Announces New Release and Rebranding of its Award-Winning Capture Platform
Kofax Capture 8.0 Adds Capabilities Vital to Business Critical Applications in Enterprise Environments
Basingstoke, March 4, 2008 -- Kofax plc (LSE: KFX), the leading provider of Intelligent Capture & Exchange solutions, today announced a new release of Ascent Capture, the world's leading information capture platform, which, with this release, is being rebranded as Kofax Capture.
Kofax Capture automates business processes by capturing paper and electronic documents and forms in a digital format; transforming content into accurate data; and delivering the resulting information to an organization's business applications and repositories.
Kofax Capture 8.0 features several new benefits that are vital to business-critical applications in enterprise environments, including a "disaster recovery" function. Kofax Capture 8.0 supports more reliable deployments at multiple sites and, through disaster recovery, provides 100 percent data retention by enabling documents to automatically be re-routed to other sites in the event that a site is no longer operational.
"Enterprise organizations rely on business-critical information in their daily operations, so the importance of protecting critical data has become a high business priority among our customers," said Brad Hamilton, vice president of capture products at Kofax. "With the introduction on Kofax Capture 8.0, we have provided our customers with peace of mind in knowing that even if a site fails, documents and data are automatically re-routed to remaining sites to resume critical business operations without any lost data."
In addition to disaster recovery, Kofax Capture 8.0 offers Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) monitoring, which enables users to monitor Kofax Capture applications with industry standard system monitoring tools. The SNMP monitoring feature provides real-time access to data for all users from any location, increasing document continuity as users will no longer need to access the system through various disparate types of monitoring tools.
"Monitoring the system through SNMP enables users to quickly handle any exceptions that may arise and ensures that required information throughput is being met," continued Hamilton.
Kofax Capture 8.0 also leverages industry standards to offer tight integration with IBM DB2 and Oracle databases, and supports Microsoft Windows Vista. Through an open, non-proprietary architecture, customers have the ability to utilize their company's preferred database with Kofax Capture 8.0, and take advantage of security features within the operating system.
To further heighten security, Kofax Capture 8.0 also offers a User/Group Routing feature to enable users to route documents to specific individuals and groups for specialized processing; and a Menu and Toolbar Enable/Disable function to enable users to disable irrelevant menus and block forbidden options, thereby customizing applications to meet their unique user interface needs. As such, these security features also help users meet corporate compliance requirements and security standards driven by government organizations.
